What makes a burger a California burger? Why California Avocados, of course! And this California burger recipe adds sriracha mayo and blue cheese for a taste combination that zings.

You’ll have a line forming at the grill when you make these for your next barbecue, so make sure you have plenty of California Avocados on hand. You wouldn’t want to run out!

Ingredients

Serves: 4

1 1/3 lbs. lean ground beef
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
4 whole grain burger buns
2 Tbsp. sriracha mayonnaise
1 cup shredded romaine lettuce
8 slices red onion
8 slices tomato
4 oz. Crumbled Blue Cheese
1 ripe, Fresh California Avocado, seeded, peeled and sliced

As with all fruits and vegetables, wash avocados before cutting.

Instructions

  1. Preheat a grill to high. Form burger meat into loosely packed patties and season with salt and pepper. Grill for 4 minutes on each side to reach medium rare.
  2. During the last two minutes, add the buns to the grill, flipping once.
  3. Remove burgers and buns from grill and spread sriracha mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Top with shredded lettuce, onion, burger patty, tomato, avocado, and blue cheese.

Serving Suggestion: Serve with a fresh watermelon salad.

Beverage Pairing: Cold avocado ale or iced tea.
