Korean food (and Korean barbeque) is a staple in my diet.

Just the thought of kalbi (grilled, marinated beef rib), bulgogi (thin slices of marinated sirloin beef), and samgyeopsal (fatty slices of pork belly) with kimchi and all the little banchan (various side dishes) makes me crave Korean barbeque.

But sometimes I don’t feel like going through the process of lengthy marinating procedures or grilling and don’t have time to deal with a long sit-down meal at the neighborhood kbbq joint. For these times – this is a go-to recipe that never disappoints.

And not only is it delicious, but it has proven to be a favorite. In fact it was a regional finalist in the 2013 National Beef Cook-Off contest – one of the biggest recipe contests in the USA. Last year’s National Beef Cook-Off theme, “Making the Most of MyPlate,” encouraged delicious, healthy recipes from a variety of food groups.
