California Avocado season has ended.

Cinco de Mayo in Sunny California

As with all fruits and vegetables, wash avocados before cutting.
Check out our tips for how to choose and use California Avocados.

Everyone reaches for our favorite green fruit on Cinco de Mayo. In fact, the holiday rounds out the top three avocado-consumption days of the year, joined by the Big Game and St. Patrick’s Day.

And while the avocado takes center stage on this day (and all days, if we’re being honest), Cinco de Mayo in California is about spending time with your friends and family. We’ll help behind the scenes as you step forth as the best West Coast host on the block (wherever you may be). Get a little extra inspiration from our friends on Instagram.

These simple seat assignments take less than five minutes to make. All you need is a bunch of limes, a pack of colorful blank stickers and a permanent marker. Write the names of your guests on the stickers, affix them to the limes and place them above your table settings. The best part about them? After the guests are seated, they can squeeze the limes over their festive California Avocado–filled meal.

For your table’s centerpieces, head to your local nursery and pick up some low-cost cacti and succulents in colorful pots to give your table a burst of festiveness.

The Appetizers
It’s getting warm here in California, and we can’t think of anything more refreshing than watermelon with California Avocado garnish. Serve this yummy dish as a premeal salad or make a mini version as a snackable appetizer

Watermelon salad not your thing? Try the California version of 7-layer dip. Not only is this Classic Seven Layer Salad easy to make and yummy, its bright colors will draw your guests eyes straight to it. We recommend doubling the recipe!

And now, what you’ve been waiting for: guacamole. After all, no Cinco de Mayo party is complete without chips and guac — especially in California. This margarita version is a play on classic guacamole with a tequila and citrus twist. Yum!

The Entrées
The easiest Cinco de Mayo entrée? Tacos. The key is to have a few options, so whether your guests dig in to Carne Asada Tacos with Grilled California Avocado, Chicken Tinga Tacos with Avocado Radish Slaw, Shrimp Tacos with California Avocado Mojo de Ajo or even Potato and Kale Tacos with Avocado Salad, they’re sure to be impressed ... and full.

The Pairing
On Cinco de Mayo, a margarita is key. For this Avorita, blend tequila, triple sec, lime juice, sugar, California Avocado and some ice for a creamy, frozen treat. For the kiddos, a virgin version is just as yummy.

The only thing left to do? Kick back, relax and enjoy spending time with your favorite people.
