2. Choose the Perfect Avocado – Every Time.

The next time you’re confronted with a display of perfectly stacked California Avocados at the grocery store, you’ll feel confident that you’ll pick the best fruit for your needs. From a slightly soft fruit that’s ready-to-use, to a harder avocado that you plan to use for lunch prep in a few days, this handy “5 Stages of Avocado Ripeness” guide will teach you exactly what to look for when purchasing California Avocados.

3. Ripen & Store Avocados Flawlessly.

Now is the time to stock up on California Avocados! Take your new found expertise on how to choose an avocado and buy enough fruit to last you a week (I typically plan for one per day). If you’re looking to speed up the ripening process, put an apple with your avocado in a paper bag on your counter; the natural ethylene gas these fruit produce will help quicken the ripening process.

Find yourself with more ripe avocados than you’re planning on using immediately? Putting ripe avocados in the fridge can keep them fresh for a few extra days.

4. Slice & Dice your Avocados – the Right Way.

Have you ever tried to cut into an avocado, but cut your hand instead? Cutting an avocado the correct way means you’ll not only end up with a perfectly sliced or diced avocado, you’ll avoid any kitchen mishaps or knife slips.

5. Swap a Spread (or other Condiment).

Always seem to be reaching for the ketchup, mustard or mayo during your summer barbeques? Add a new spread to your condiment mix this season with California Avocado. Bonus – not only will you get to enjoy the great taste of California Avocados while they’re in peak season, with only 1/5th of a medium avocado, you’ll be contributing nearly 20 vitamins and minerals to your meal.

6. Stack up a Killer Californian Sandwich.

Whether you’re swapping mayo for California Avocado or adding a few slices to your sandwich, try updating your lunch menu with a new sandwich recipe like the Sourdough California Avocado Grilled Cheese, Cobb Chicken Salad, or the California Avocado Club

7. Get Creative with an Unexpected Avocado Recipe.

You’ve probably already perfected your signature guacamole recipe, but this month, challenge yourself to try a recipe you never would have thought of before. Some of my favorites include:
