They walk the land ensuring their avocados are always inspected, harvested and cared for by hand. HOME IS WHERE THE GROVE IS

Around 90 percent of the nation’s avocado crop is produced right here in California, so if you’re looking for a homegrown avocado with delicious flavor and texture, remember to look for the California label.

  • The Hass Avocado is a California native. The Hass variety was discovered in La Habra Heights, California, in the 1920s by Rudolph Hass. In fact, every Hass Avocado in the world can trace its lineage to the original Hass Mother Tree.
  • It takes 14-18 months to grow a single California Avocado.
  • Less than 1 percent of our state has the fertile soil, cool breeze and gentle sunshine necessary to grow avocados.
  • There are nearly 4,000 avocado growers in California; the average grove size is around 13 acres.
  • One California Avocado tree can produce up to 200 avocados (or 100 pounds of fruit) a season.
  • There are avocado festivals that celebrate the beloved California Avocado every year!
